Bimbo-Proof Instructions on How to Download TV Shows

Everyone's talking about it, but how do you download Movies/TV Shows from the Internet? Why not use BitTorrent? It's fast, easy and relatively safe! And the best thing is, you don't have to understand how BitTorrent works to use it.

THE GOAL: Download the 1st Episode of the 2nd Season of Gossip Girl.

THE 5 EASY STEPS:

1. Download 'Utorrent'
2. Download Gossip Girl's 'torrent' file
3. Begin Downloading Gossip Girl
4. Wait
5. Watch Gossip Girl

Let's get started!

1. Download 'Utorrent'

First, you'll need a BitTorrent client. My favorite is 'Utorrent'. Download it here: utorrent .com

Click on the 'Free Download' button to start downloading utorrent (Choose the Mac version if you're using a Mac).

The first time you run the file, utorrent will ask if you'd like to make shortcuts on your start menu and desktop. I suggest you do.

2. Download Gossip Girl's torrent file

You will now have to search and download the appropriate torrent file. 'The Pirate Bay' is an excelent site to search for torrent files.

Go to: thepiratebay.org

For now, resist the desire to search for your torrent via the search box. It's easier to just click on the'TV Shows' link.

A lists of TV shows will appear. Scroll down and find Gossip Girl. Click on 'S02' (Season 2). This will list all the torrent files that's associate with Season 2 of Gossip Girl.

For reason's you can't appreciate and I would rather not get into, the torrents are named using the following convention:

'TV show Title'.'Season No'.'Episode No'.'Video details'

Gossip Girl, Season 2, Episode 1 translates to:

Gossip.Girl.S02.E01.(Followed by video details).

Start fishing around for a file like this.

In general, choose a file that has the highest SE (Seeders).

Click on your selection. You'll see the torrent's info and comments from other users about this torrent. The comments are sometims usefull to determine whether the picture is clear, are the subtitles any good, etc.

When you're happy with your selection, click on 'DOWNLOAD THIS TORRENT' to begin download.

You have successfully downloaded the torrent file for Gossip Girl, Episode 1 of Season 2.

3.Begin Downloading Gossip Girl

'Right Click' on the torrent file and in the context menu, click 'Open With' > 'utorrent'. Utorrent will present you with a 'Pop-up' enquiring where you'd like to save the video file.

In the 'Save As' section, click on the '...' button and choose the location where you want the video to be downloaded. Click 'OK'.

Congratulations. You are now downloading Episode 1, Season 2 of Gossip Girl.

4. Wait - Monitoring Progress

This is a good time to get familiar with the interface.

Click 'Downloading' to get to the 'Downloading' Screen. You should be able to see your Gossip Girl or any other files that you re downloading listed here. I suggest not downloading more than 5 files simultaneously.

Take note of these columns:

Name - Name of torrent file.
Done - Percentage downloaded so far.
Status - Whether it's downloading, completed, etc.
ETA - Estimated Time of Arrival.
Ratio - Share Ratio. How well you're sharing this video file.

How long will this take?

The rule of thumb is, the more 'Seeders' a file has (the more popular) , the faster download.

In this tutorial for example, using a torrent file with 150 Seeders, download and upload speeds of 1.4 MB/S and 0.16 MB/S respectively, I managed to download Gossip Girl in just under 2 hours.

It could take 2 hours, it can take 2 days. The ETA will keep changing as you download. Just keep in mind that you don't have to finish downloading in one sitting. You can 'turn off' utorrent and start it up again the next time you're online and it will continue downloading where it left off.

Once done downloading, utorrent will move your 'Job' from the 'Downloading' to the 'Completed' Screen.

You now become a 'Seeder', and it's your turn to share the file with others.

The system 'keeps score', so it's good idea keep sharing to get your 'Share Ratio' to around 1.0 to 1.5 to ensure good downloading times. You can stop sharing the torrent by selecting your torrent and pressing the 'Stop' Button.

5. Watch Gossip Girl

Find your file from the the 'Completed' Screen and 'Right Click' your selection to bring up the context menu. Click on 'Open Containing Folder'. This will open the folder where your file has been downloaded. Find your video file and enjoy.

There is a lot to watch on TV these days. There was a time when Malaysians only had a total of 3 TV stations to watch. Unless you grew up in JB, then you'll have a few more channels to surf. In those days, it was common for people to go to work or school and ask if your friend or colleague caught the show you saw last night.

That almost sounds crazy now. Thanks to Astro, there are just too many channels, to keep track of. And then theres the Pirated DVD thing... it used to be you'd get to rent a VHS (that’s a 'Video Cassette Tape' for those of you who were born in the 90s) like a year after the movie come out.

But now, we get the latest and the greatest movie and TV shows the world has to offer. The local DVD stalls have countless flicks and all of your favorite TV Shows are sold in nice colorful Boxed Sets. Season 1? Season 2? The whole 9 Seasons of The Sopranos?

Keng Meng doesn't have the show you’re looking for? No problem, just download it off the Net.

You're an instant gratification kind of chick? Forgot the theme song for Thunder Cats, Jem, and the Holograms? Strawberry Shortcake? The Adventures of Gummi Bears? Just youtube it.

My dad once asked who the hell has the time and motivation to upload these videos? I told him there are 6.7 billion people on this planet. It only takes one.

Everyone is thinking, it's only a matter of time before the Internet will replace TV completely. I don't think that day will come; They have said this about Radio when Television came along and Radio is still relatively strong. And I just can’t picture a family circling the PC in the living room.

We’re not there yet.

However, people do listen to LESS Radio. And with Internet video becoming more and more pervasive, people will continue to watch less and less broadcast television. Just the way things are.

AXN's Crime Time Wednesday - Solving Crimes on a Weekday

Premiering the fifth season of Numb3rs and finishing off the current two seasons of CSIs, hump nights will go down easier this month as AXN is stacking 3 police procedural back to back every Wednesday this July.

Numb3rs - What I like about this show is the thinking that goes into solving each case. I remember reading somewhere about a serial rape case that was solved by a PHD. He developed some formula to determine the likely location of a perp based on the locations of his crimes. I think this show is based on that. In fact, I think the Pilot was based on that. CSI - No disrespect to the fans out there. But I think the producers went wild when they started shamelessly milking this cash cow into a franchise. Imagine if they made a spin-off of House.

That would be stupid.

I'll stick to CSI Vanilla. Partly because Grissom rocks (Langston's ok...), and partly because there are enough MILFs in there to keep it interesting. Incidentally, why is it that everyone who gets killed/murdered winds up on the autopsy table - if not really fat or ugly - always incredibly hot?

It's been sweet so far into the ninth season, my only complaint is, why can't a bug lover find some love?

CSI Miami - Miami is Chocolate. Not Vanilla, but it'll do. I know it sounds stupid, but the reason I like Miami is because it's so Orange. The palette they use on the show is really vibrant. The orange hues, the neon green crocodiles... the ultra pale Caruso.

Remember when he left NYPD Blue to try and make it in the movies... Acted in that god awful movie Jade? (Linda Fiorentino is hot). People wrote him off like John Travolta (until pulp fiction).

Who'd guess he'd be back 8 years later breathing out those sun glasses-propped one liners?

In this economically trying times it's good to know that in July at least, your Wednesday nights are sorted.

I frequently watch House on a) my sister's or my ex-girlfriend's Astro b) my PC after having downloaded it of the Internet and c) DVDs.

We've already explored why I'm so into this show.

But merely liking a character in a TV show doesn't explain watching it like a junkie. There must be more to the show than Laurie's good looks and boyish charm. So lets explore my continuous gravitation towards this piece of culture.

Let's start with something that has been annoying me for awhile. The differentials sequences:

They say a bunch of stuff I don't understand, House take the piss out of everybody, they rule out Lupus talks about autoimmune, argue if it's head problem or a physical problem, House orders a biopsy / MRI scan / CT Scan (are those the same thing?) and a bunch of other tests and the team disperse to carry on their work. Repeat and rinse till things get better.

How come I'm always left thinking, what the hell just happened?

Am I the only one who's not following the stuff they say during the deferential. I know there are doctors who watch the show and evaluate the plausibility and the quality of House and his team's diagnosis. But, what about me? A regular guy with a college education. Shouldn't I understand any of this? Or has TV finally fried my brain?

What's frustrating is I think I'm a pretty perceptive guy. Like how I notice that House isn't using his cane properly. And he’s supposed to be a DOCTOR!

Remember Dr. Huxtable of the Cosby Show (I forget which episode) explaining the correct way to use a cane? That if you're limping of your RIGHT leg, you're suppose to have the cane on your LEFT hand so you can walk naturally.

And speaking about waving your cane.

What about Cuddy's excess cleavage flaunting and highly impractical riding boots. And what kind of hospital administrator wears pants that tight anyway (Note to producers: I'm not complaining)?

And has anyone realized that save Kutner and Taub, everyone on the show has taken their shirt off? All I'm saying is, like all these medical dramas it's more about the Drama than it is about the Medicine (Grey's Anatomy anyone?).

Those who are judging me for not being able to follow the differential, should not pretend the show's knee deep in mystery and layered in drama and intellect when at the end of the day, like every other primetime offering, they still use sex to keep everyone interested. Shamelessly appealing to the lowest common denominator who most certainly won't understand any of the deferential sequences anyway!

Let's calm down a bit.

So that's the part of the show that I have a problem with.

The only other medical drama I remember feeling so strongly about was ER. And that's because George Clooney was just so cool. I love how he's always sticking it to the man. House does this all the time. It's like he's the Rock Star doctor and he can get away with almost anything.

I also like how they get to eliminating the usual suspects (ironically, they do this during the deferential sequences) and how the show follows a lot of the same themes and narratives styles of murder mysteries in the vien of Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes (Wait a minute Holmes? Home? House? Coincidence?).

I love Murder Mysteries.

Why I love the show: Edgy, grey haired, grouchy main player with character flaws who solves murder mysteries for kicks.

That, and Forehead (Thirteen) and Bleeding Heart (Cameron) are super-hot.

You can take the guy out of the pizza place, but you can take the pizza place out of the guy.

Ryan Reynolds have always been kinda confusing to me. I loved him in "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" , but since that show, my brain always short circuits when I see him in movies like "Blade: Trinity"and "The Amityville Horror" (wow he got buff).

He's a funny and talented guy and movies like "Definately, maybe" feels more like him.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that in the new X-men pic, they were able to use some of Ryan's funny.

Everyone Needs Friends Everyday of The Week

I think everyone loves the TV show Friends. And if they don't, they most certainly should. Here are some memorable phrases that comes to mind:-

"In prison!"

"We were on a break!"

"My Sandwich!"

All that would pretty much be meaningless if you don't actually watch Friends, but if you do, it should bring back all kinds of funny, fuzzy feelings...

I didn't realize how much I liked and missed the show until I kept bumping into it while channel surfing. Turns out you can watch Friends everyday now on STAR WORLD... It's like the Simpsons :)

I have the whole DVD collection... But there's something different about watching it on broadcast television. It feels like you are not laughing alone. It's the same reason why I always go to the cinema. Getting a pirated DVDs and watching it at home is kinda depressing. It's the mob laughing together feeling that I like.

So don't watch shows alone, watch it with Friends!!!

The first grumpy guy that made an impression on me was this local DJ, Patrick Teoh. He had a show on Radio Four in the early 90s and was famous for being rude and brash on national radio. He's the kind of guy you either love or hate.

Back in those days they don't prerecord phone calls and edit them nicely before putting them on air. All calls went in live. You'd get callers in raw, and sometimes with their radios still on and they'd get confused because of the 5 second delay in transmission. This was source of frustration for Patrick, and once in awhile, he fights back:

Patrick Teoh: Hello good morning! This is Radio Four...
Caller: Is this Radio Four?
Patrick Teoh: Yes. Ma'am...
Caller: Hello... Is this Radio Four?
Patrick Teoh: Yes this is Radio Four. Go ahead ma'am.

Patrick Teoh: Not any more... (hangs up the phone and chuckles

I remember laughing outloud when a caller asked if he has reached Radio Four and Patrick informed the caller that he has in fact dialled the wrong number and this was a bakery instead. The caller apologised and hung up the phone. You could here Patrick smirking.

It was great radio.

Grumpy men. We all love them. I think it's because they are so vocal with their opinions they don't care who they hurt.

Ahhh old skool internet video...

Pros:

Just works. Usually works with the pre-installed media player which comes with the operating system.
Content control. The provider has more control over his video content and how it's distributed.
Easy. Just upload the file, put the html tags, and you're done.

Cons:

User not in control. The Pause and other navigation buttons on the player are usually disabled.
Shitty, jerky video. With no way of pausing to wait for video to buffer and download proper, users are often times treated to a jerky incomprehensible mess of a video.

CJ7 – Master of None

AXN is going to be airing CJ7 in January 2009. What? A Stephen Chow movie where he isn't a master at anything? Not cooking? Acting? Not Soccer? Not Kung Fu? I have to admit when it first came out at the theaters, I wasn't actually enthused to go catch it. I say this because, everyone who knows me knows that I'm a big Stephen Chow fan. To me, he's Hong Kong's comedic genius. Years from now, people will study Shaolin Soccer, translate God of Cookery into 5 of the major languages and make it required viewing for anybody who intends to be involved in humorous cinema.

His deadpan delivery still makes me cry with laugher, and I don't even speak Cantonese.

When I finally got to watching CJ7, my only regret was waiting so long. I remember thinking what a masterpiece. This is easily one of Chow's best works.

I don't like giving away detailed movie plots because I feel that it ruins the movie experience. In a nutshell however, it's about a poor single father (Chow) who has to take care of his son, Dicky (Xu Jiao) after his wife passed away. Chow works hard so he can send his son to a good school. But the school is expensive, and it leaves him and the boy with not much money for anything else. At school, the rich kids give Dicky a hard time because he's so poor. But when a "magic rubber ball" comes into their lives (I won't say how…) things begin to look up.

That's it, I've already said too much.

This movie really struck a chord with me. Some scenes were really touching. Like the scene where Chow disciplines his Dicky for throwing a tantrum, or when a kid not able to accept that his father has passed away, shoos everyone out of the house because he says that his dad will be coming home soon and he needs to go to sleep.

You'd have to be made of stone to not shed a tear at some of these scenes. Not that there are no silly gags or slapsticks in the movie, there's plenty of that and Chow's 'special' brand of humor is still alive and well.

The viewer can actually feel the connection between Father and Son and I credit this to good writing and the strong performances of Chow and the new comer Xu Jiao.

This is a good movie, funny as hell and heartwarming at the same time. I recommend you not to make my mistake. Don't wait too long. Go watch it when it comes out.

A lot of Malaysians may not realise this, but the phrase "Tipah tertipu" (I, Tipah was conned {that sounds wierd in English}), Originated from this movie called Ali Setan way back in 1985.

I felt the need to point this out less somebody mistakingly attributes this catchy phrase to the band Ruffedge which was later also made into a movie.

And the site seems to only work on Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

If you have never tried P2PTV, you don't know what you're missing. I've heard about if for the longest time but never really wanted to give it a try.

At the back of my mind I dismissed it completely, thinking it would be jerky and slow. It's was only because I was desperate, did I even gave it a go.

Considering how much good stuff never makes it to Malaysia, you'll be amazed at the number of people out there that do not know how to download movies, tv shows, and other stuff off the Internet.

I guess when you've been downloading stuff for as long as you can remember, it's easy to forget that not everybody spends half of their waking lives plugged to the Internet.

The video below is a quick and dirty tutorial on how to quickly start using torrent, my preferred method for downloading stuff off the net.

It walks you though the steps of downloading Utorrent, installing it , searching for files you want on Piratesbay, downloading the torrent, and then running the torrent using Utorrent. All in a nice, sweet 3 minutes.

AlthoughI didn't make the video, I would be happy to answer any questions anyone might have. :)

I just noticed that in order to view the shows on the ntv7 site you have to register first.

It takes about 3 seconds, but still? What's the point? The other channels who are offering their videos don't bother. I think doing this just creates another barrier between the audience and the content.

Most people are going to go, "Fuck this shit, there's a whole Internet out there why bother with this?".

Watching live TV online

There are many ways to view videos on the net these days. Everyone is familiar with flash-based video sites like youtube, blip.tv and metacafe. The quality's not great but most of us just need to be able to make out what's happening and usually it's good enough.

Then there's video streaming that stutters like hell. Unlike youtube you can't pause the video and wait till the payload's finished downloading, you got to sit there and watch it suffer.

Some prefer to download the whole file in avi, mpg or in whatever the video format the file is in and watch it on their local the player. Now with torrent, people think nothing of leaving the PC humming for days while it patiently downloads the entire season of Grey's Anatomy and Top Gear.

Out of these, I hate video streaming the most. It jerks too much and none of the control works. With the exception of RTM's excellent but now defunct streaming service, the experience is not great.

I was late to discover this other alternative. I came across it while figuring out away to watch Live TV of the Internet for free (We were going for the Olympic Gold and I wasn't sure if they were going to air the event on terrestrial TV).

The Technology is P2PTV. And the program I downloaded was Sopcast.

Sopcast allows you to watch live broadcast of popular channels like ESPN and Discovery channel via the Internet. Whether it's legal... It's as legal as downloading most of your torrents is legal.

The picture quality is better than regular video streaming. That is to say the quality is still pretty shitty but smoother. If you need to watch a live football match and a decoder is nowhere in sight, this could be an option for you.

Keep in mind that you're not going to get a HDTV experience here. I mean, the ball looks 2 pixels wide and you can barely make out those tiny jersey numbers.

Hi, I am the TV Man and I love watching television. My love for reality TV shows stands firm despite my strong and lasting belief that it should have been Rudy and not Richard Hatch to have won that very first Survivor.

Although rarely indicated through this blog, I also watch an insane amount of movies, and wish to one day be able to watch Reservoirs Dogs all the way from beginning to end.

Sometime in 2006, after going through the various TV guides that were available online, I became frustrated with the search features and information that these sites had. I found the 'one page per channel' thing annoying. I wanted to see all of channels listed together on one page just like in the weekend newspapers.

At the time, even Astro's monthly magazine/booklet, listed out shows per channel. As if a person would go,

"I really feel like watching The Discovery Channel today, wonder what's on... Let me get that Astro magazine/booklet thingy and painstakingly go through the finely printed listings...",

Well maybe some do, but I was a busy guy, as are a lot of people. We got things to do. I'm not a couch potato.. I got a life you know!

I just wanted to find the shows I liked (the show was 'Faking It') so I could plan to watch shows at my convenience. Isn't this the reason they say they're repeating shows anyway?

It just didn't make any sense to me. So that's when I came up with an idea. I compiled the TV listings myself, pumped it into my database at home, and searched till my heart's content.

A side from creating my own little TV listing search engine, I complied all the relevant channels together and grouped them together into single page summaries. I then made it available on a website for other viewers.

That was more than 2 years ago and I have been publishing the weekly Malaysian TV Guides at malaysiantv.blogspot.com ever since.

Malaysian TV Show Guide Sources

The truth is no matter how hard you try, no one source is able to reliability give you an accurate listings of the shows on TV.

Not Astro, not TV3 or the other channels websites... None of them is right 100 percent of the time. Often even the station's own website gets their TV show listings wrong.

When I first started this site, this became a source of frustration for me. Now, I have come to accept the fact that things just can't be perfect.

The TV guides you find on this malaysiantv.blogpot.com, are mostly are derived from Astro's listings. So mistakes from their site will result in mistakes on the listing here as well.

Badminton will always have a place in our hearts. The game was really big in the late 80s and hit a fever pitch in 1992 when Malaysia (When I say Malaysia I mean Rashid Sidek) went on to winning the Thomas Cup.

After 25 years, the boy from Selangor brought the Thomas Cup back to Malaysia. We held on to it long and proud until we lost it again two years later in 1994. We haven't seen The Cup since...

I loved watching badminton with my dad, we'd watched the whole game standing up, we were so excited. At the time, people were saying that if you had a weak heart you shouldn't be watching badminton. I think if your team is playing, that statement is still true.

Olympic Gold? It 's not a Thomas Cup but it's a really close second... Will Lee Chong Wei be the one to bring it home?

The Olympic games are here and we are once again treated to 2 glorious weeks of sweaty men and women running, jumping, dancing, swimming and all around letting it all hang out.

Both RTM and Astro are covering the Olympics in Beijing this year. The extent of the coverage however, remains as cryptic to me as those single sleeve tops women wear. Anyway, this means you can watch the Olympics live, online via RTM's Online TV Streaming website. Astro's covering the Olympics event with several dedicated Olympic channels.

"KUALA LUMPUR: Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek has confirmed Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) as Malaysia’s official broadcaster of the Beijing Olympics, scheduled for Aug 8 to 24.

RTM 1 will provide live coverage of the games for six hours and RTM 2 for four hours daily, with an hour of the daily report, he said at the launch of the “Beijing Olympics 100 Days Countdown” at Berjaya Times Square here Wednesday night.

Carrying the theme “RTM, Your Olympic Channel”, the RTM 1 broadcast will begin at 11 am for the morning session and 3pm for the afternoon session, while the highlights will be on at 11.30 pm.

According to the Olympic schedule site (Which is most excellent), the events are scheduled, some events are held outside these times, so we have a good chance of not watching the games live.

All you who-watch-to-much-TV types would be surprise to learn that Malaysia and Beijing share the same time zone (GMT +8). Rejoice in the fact that your slow sluggish brain need not even have to do any funky time conversion thingy when referring to the schedule.

Seconds after replugging the TV after almost a month of abstinence (Non-voluntary), the set lit up to a bright colorful but unfamiliar show. The show is quirky and falls somewhere between Dexter and Desperate House Wives. I remember thinking Why have I never heard of this show before?

Booted up the internet and according to 8tv's site, Ugly Betty was suppose to be on. I was pretty sure that whatever that was airing was definitely not Ugly Betty. I hate that show.

Anywho, after a second futile attempt at Astro's site, I finally found the answer at thestars.com.my's TV listings (It's funny how inacurate these TV listings are... my TV Listings are no better, but I'm working on it...). The show was 'Pushing Daisies', and here's the premise:-

This romantic comedy shows us the fairy tale like world of Ned, a man who can bring dead people back to life through the power of his touch. The same touch he must use to 'kill' them after no more than a minute or another person will die.

With the help of Emerson, a local PI, Ned uses his ability to solve murder cases and cash in on any rewards. But things get complicated when a murder victim turns out to be Ned's long lost childhood crush and he decides to break the rules and let her live.

The show is created by Bryan Fuller, who has brought us sci-fi series such as Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me. The series shares the quick-witted comedy and darker emotions of Fuller's previous shows.

I only got to catch the last 8 minutes of it but will definitely be tuning in next week. It's good. If you have watched it and hated it, you're probably the type that watches Ugly Betty and there is little I can do for you.

This is very upsetting for me because I'm really big Afdlin Shauki fan. He was half responsible for one of the greatest comedic 4 minutes of malaysian tv history

One of the channels that Astro offers is AXN (a three letter acronym I have yet to decipher). They offer this channel bundled in their basic package.

I consider it to be one of my favorite Astro channels and I seem to consistently gravitate to it when not watching my guilty pleasure (American Idol) or pretending that watching television can be every bit as nourishing to the mind as reading (Discovery channel - Myth busters).

You will find the AXN Asia site very informative. It even offers the AXN channel guide for the entire month for you to download and print at your leisure.

Malaysian TV Online: ntv7 and tv9

As I was watching American Idol yesterday, it occurred to me that besides TV3 and 8tv, Media Prima also owned the other two terrestrial channels: ntv7 and tv9.

So it stands to reason that these two channels would also provide access to their In housely produced TV shows. A quick check on their website confirmed this to be true.

NTV7 – ‘Catch up TV’ – Main page, right at the top;
tv9 – ‘Episod Penuh’ / ‘Sajian Kami’ – Main page, also right at the top.

This discovery, which I later shared with my dad, thrilled him to no end. I have only recently introduced him to the web and the fact that I made it known to him that he can now view the entire season of one of his favorite evening TV shows (Mari Bertarannum) through the PC, cemented my place as his favorite son.

Malaysian TV Online: TV3 and 8TV

TV3 and 8tv have both made their programs available on their website with a service they call 'Catch Up TV'. It is and interesting concept. The format is much like Youtube (better quality) and they cut up each episodes into easy to digest parts.

I’ve read some where that the shows aren't going to be posted on the web indefinately and are only going to be offered for fixed length of time. Just enough for you to err.. catch up.

It's easy to find, right at the top 'Catch Up TV'.

Malaysian TV Online: RTM

Watching TV online is getting more and more common these days. In fact these days, I watch more 'television' on the PC rather than on an actual TV set.

RTM makes its channel available via it's 'live streaming link'. (No longer active)

Registration only takes a second, and they throw in a bunch of old school RTM radio stations Gen X and Y can hardly relate to...

8tv is offering this service where you get to watch selected shows for free. It's under 'Catch Up TV' on their main page. Although I don't really watch any of the shows they' re offering, I still think it's pretty sweet of them to offer this service to their viewers.

The video quality is pretty good and it's much easier to skim through episodes to search for faint cleavage scenes of cute chicks that don't really play futsal.

I don't speak Mandarin.

But seriously, why bother calling it Gol & Gincu at all? It hardly has any futsal in it (and no, gossiping at the bench doesn't count).

Marrying A Millionaire

While scanning the TV listings for something to watch on regular TV while waiting for 'Buka', I came across this Korean Drama 'Marrying a Millionaire' which airs every weekday from 6 to 7 pm. After a quick trip to youtube, I got to survey the first episode... hey... what a cute chick...

Like all Korean dramas the pace is mind numbingly slow but it still makes for very entertaining brain candy while you're waiting to break fast alone or with your Muslim boyfriends or girlfriends

Astro Ria is going to be running this series called Dark City. It's suppose to have a Twilight Zone kinda feeling with a funky twist at the end of every episode. The 13 episodes are directed by 7 directors I've never heard of (I don't know that many...) that are suppose to be good.

I haven't seen the show yet so I'll reserve my comment till after. In any case, it is still a refreshing step away from the usual local drama 'Minggu Ini' and daily serials, which thought are mildly entertaining tends to get stale after awhile.

And I didn't even know Astro Ria airs shows that are in English.

Oh.. and HAPPY MERDEKA!!!!
